New Adventures

Our first new adventure this week was finding that Eva Rose is starting to get teeth. She is definately getting a lower one and maybe a second one also. Other than chewing on her fingers, I would never have guessed that she was teething. I just happened to notice the tooth when she was yawning.

On Monday, we went to Tendercrop Farm in Newbury, MA. It was the first time blueberry picking. Michael even helped out picking the blueberries off the bushes, though he ate all the ones that he picked. The farm also had a buffalo and a llama. It was the first time that I noticed that Michael got really involved in the animals. Obviously the twins are too young to enjoy any of this, but they seemed to enjoy being out in the sunny weather, especially since we haven't had much of that this summer.

Today, we decided to go to Drumlin Farm in Lincoln, MA. Again, Michael liked looking at the animals, but was not impressed when they made noise. We almost lost our stroller umbrella when one of the cows decided to try to have it for a snack. Michael loved walking around the wide open expanse of land and would walk away from us without ever looking back. Before we left for the farm, the twins ate avacado for the first time ever. They are starting food very slowly, but seem to be taking well to it.

I can't wait for next year when the twins are old enough to enjoy all these excursions. Life will be even more crazy then, but what fun!

6 months old

The twins are 6 months old today. I can't believe that all this time has passed. I now have a 16 1/2 month old and 6 month old twins. Michael is walking around every where rarely wanting to sit still. The twins have both rolled over and now almost always sleep on their belly. Eva Rose has been doing this for at least 2 months and Thomas has just started. Having twins really makes you appreciate how different kids truely can develop at different rates and still do great. We have started some food and they still seem to prefer their bottles, but seem to enjoy a little bit of food at a time.

Today, we bought more safety equipment. Michael love the toilet and the trash. We were able to find locks that fit out toilet, trash can, and refridgerator along with tethers for shelving units and things likfe that. Michael loves putting his toys in the trash so hopefully this will prevent losing his toys. I'm sure that we will be needing these things for the twins sooner that I expect.

So far the twins have had rice cereal, peas, carrots, and sweet potatoes. Once they are eating strong, I plan to make my own food. I planned to do this with Michael, but being pregnant and working and then on bedrest made it too difficult. I always new that I wanted to be a mom, but I never thought I'd love it this much!

Life

Life is crazy as the title of my blog says. I was just thinking about how much in my life has changed over the last couple of years. I started my MSW program in May 2006. By Christmas that year I was engaged to an amazing man that I had been dating for 13 1/2 years. I graduated in May of 2007 and was married 1 month later (after an awesome wedding that amazingly went right according to plan). I also sold a house that same month. By the next month, I found out I was pregnant, never imagining that it would happen the first time we tried to have a baby. For the most part, until the last 6 weeks, I had an amazing pregnancy. Unfortunately, I ended up on bed rest for pre-eclampsia, but at least I was able to relax for the last few weeks. My plan was to have a totally natural childbirth and planned to use hypnobirthing to get through the labor. Unfortunately life had other plans and my little boy did not want to meet the world right then. after 3 hours of active pushing, I ended up having a c-section and had a beautiful boy. I attempted to nurse my son, and again life had other plans. Tom and I decided to start trying for another baby almost right away since he was going to be 50 and I was going to be 35. We never imagined that I would be pregnant again 3 months after my first son was born.By my second OB appointment, I thought that we were going to have iussues since I started to have som eslight bleeding. We went for the appointment and had a little scare since the heart beat wasn't were it was supposed to be for how far along I was. I was sent for an ultrasound at 11 weeks to find out how far along I really was (my OB thought I was further along). As soon as the ultrasound tech scanned my belly, Tom new that it was twins. I had to wait until the tech finished what she needed to do for me to find out. How crazy, not only were we having a baby 1 year away from our first, but we were having twins. At 23 weeks, I was put on bed rest for the potential of going into early labor. I was on bed rest til week 35 when I surprisingly had to have the twins because my blood pressure sky rocketed to 188/111. I was hoping again to have as natural birth as possible with a VBAC. I thought that both twins were in the right position, but my son decided to flip so that he was in the wrong position, and I ended up with another c-section. The twins were born almost 4 1/2 weeks early and weighed about 4 1/2 pounds each. They were so small, but so strong. I was lucky to have them come home with me when I left the hospital 5 days after they were born. Unfortunately, about 2 weeks later, Thomas was back in the NICU with RSV. What a scary time. We were rushed from the doctors visit 911 to Children's Hospital. 1 weeks later, Eva Rose was admitted for the same thing. What a scary time: 2 children needing to be intubated. 2 weeks later they both came home together. Now at almost 6 months old, they are growing by leaps and bounds. Life is crazy with 3 kids: 1 kid 16months and twins 6 months, but life is so good. I can't wait for next year when the kids are all running around and playing with each other.

My life is crazy, but I wouldn't change a thing!

FOOD!

The twins ate food for the first time today! Actually Thye have had a taste for about 1 1/2 weeks, but only about 1 tsp. Today they each ate 1/2 a jar of carrots. This is such a change from when they were born and they were so little and sick. With Thomas in the NICU for 3 weeks and Eva Rose for 2 weeks (and they were only a couple of weeks old), both with RSV, a respiratory infection that hits babies, especially preemies hard. They certainly grow up fast!

Doesn't Michael look so cute. He's sitting in a big boy chair outside the shops at Rockport.

Rockport

We spent the day in Rockport today. The weather was great, except I did think that it was going to rain at one point. At the end of bearskin neck it was so cloudy and windy. What a change from away from the water. We had a curry chicken salad wrap that was so good and Michael had Minestrone soup which he loved. I love that my kid likes vegetables, at least some times. A nice couple of ladies took our picture as a family. I think this may be the first picture that we have with all of us. I can't wait to enjoy more nice weather with my family.
Yesterday we spent the day in Kennebunkport and had a great time looking at all the shops. The weather wasn't as nice, but it was still a great day!

What a weekend!

What a great weekend. On Saturday we packed everyone up and went to the first farmer's market in Wakefield. It was small but hopefully it will get bigger as time goes on. We bought some Italian bread and some blueberry muffins, some applesauce, and some mustard greens and some pea pod stems. Later that day we enjoyed a cookout where Michael decided that he wanted to eat steak tips by himself as well as the broccoli. He also loved eating corn on the cob off of Nonna and Papa's cob. Later that night we had a fire in our new fire pit. As corney as it may sound we all sang Puff the Magic Dragon While Tom played the guitar (personally i loved every second of it. Michael loved it and went to sleep with little trouble.

On Sunday, another beautiful day, we headed up to York for a cousin's 50th birthday party. We had a great time. It was Michael's second time at the beach (both times being in York) and the twins 1st time. Michael love being burried in the sand. We almost lost his new keen sandles on the sand when he decided to come out of the sand. The twins were very comfortable and fell asleep in whose ever arms were holding them. What a great day we all had.

Where's the Sun

Will we ever see the sun again? Will it stay for longer than 2 days? This weather is really no fun when you have 3 small kids. Even though there is so much house stuff to do, I just want to enjoy the outdoors with the kids. After being on bed rest for the last 3 months of my pregnancy, the twins being preemie and sick and born in the winter, and now having Tom home for the summer, I just want to have nice weather to enjoy.

We spent the morning at Costco doing a major food and baby stuff run. It's amazing how much stuff you need when you have 3 kids. Things go so quickly.

Michael ate a necterine all by himself this morning. He is so cute. The twins are getting so big and so strong. It seems like just yesterday they were just 4 1/2 pounds and now they are able to hold their heads up and are almost triple their birth weight.
This crazy life, wouldn't change a thing,

4th of July weekend

Happy belated 4th.

Tom and I spent the 4th of July at the lake in Wakefield. We packed up all 3 kids and spent the day enjoying the fabulous weather that we had on Saturday. We watched a little of the diaper derby and Michael loved walking around the common and testing the water out a little. We watched the parade and the fire engines scared Michael and Eva Rose. Thomas, being the easy going kid that he is, just sat there and took it all in. After all the sirens, Michael like hearing the music and would clap when everyone else did. We then sat around and waited for the fireworks. No nap for Michael meant that he was not a happy camper by the time the fireworks went off. He cried in the beginning, but then fell asleep. He would wake up every once in a while and clap when eveyone else clapped.

On Sunday, we decided to have a last minute cookout. We are crazy people. We called people that morning and had to go out that afternoon to buy the food. It was so nice haveing people over to enjoy a fabulous day of weather (something we haven't enjoyed for so long).

Hope everyone had as great a weekend as we did,

Amy

My first blog

I just started my first blog. I hope I can keep up with writing on it. Just like the name of my blog, my life is crazy. I am the mom to Michael almost 16 months (5 more days), and Eva Rose and Thomas my 5 1/2 month old twins. As crazy as my life is, I wouldn't have it any other way.
We just did a CIO (cry it out) for the first time with Michael and it only took maybe 30 minutes. He gets so tired and fights sleep so much. I hate listening to him cry, but he really needed to sleep. I am trying to get on a good schedule so that life will hopefully be a little easier. It's really hard though.

This crazy life, wouldn't change a thing,
