Cleaning!

I hate it!  I love how things look once it's done, but I HATE CLEANING!  My husband and i just had a discussion about my less than average ability to get organized and clean things as I cook.  I tend to just do what needs to be done and plan to clean after.  I guess at that point, I get too tired and tend to leave things too long.  I really need to get better at cleaning as I go along.  It will certainly make things easier and less stressful for everyone involved!  I need to do this with all the different chores in my daily life.  For example, laundry.  I tend to wash and dry and put the clean laundry in a basket and then leave it for later (usually because some thing comes up).  I just need to get better at getting back to that laundry basket and actually put things away before I let things pile up!

Hopefully this is not too disturbing, that with 3 kids, I don't have a totally picked up house.  I need to make sure that I don't let things get too far out of line, because then I just get too stressed and over whelmed.  If anyone has suggestions on ways to make cleaning easier or dare I even say fun, please comment!!!!

  1. www.flylady.net saved me in this department! Also, a lot of dinner prep in the morning or night before (like chopping veggies, grating cheese, etc.) helped me not make too big a mess when I actually started cooking.

  2. The only thing I can say is...

    Let the kids help.

I don't mean that the kids are going to be much help, but if you are dusting, give them a rag. IF you do, they will ALLOW you to get more done, faster, because they are HELPING you.

I have the kids fold wash rags, or put some things away. I know your kids are small, but the ones I have helping me are 2 1/2 and 4, so I understand.

Just give them something to do and you will find that you have finished more than usual by the time they start NEEDING you again! I hope so, anyway!

  3. Thanks guys. Good suggestions!

Nicole-I actually started using flylady.net, but have gotten away from it. I think I just need to get organized more and plan better. i'm glad to hear from someone I know that it actually works vs theoretically working. Any good suggestions for meal planning? Now that i am working through dinner, I need to be better organized for my husband.
