Working

So, I am contemplating going back to work.  Ok, just part time.  It's quite crazy to try to raise 3 kids on a teacher's salary.  I am not looking forward to this, but I figure I'll feel better helping to contribute financially to the family.  So far, I have only applied for 1 job.  MWH has an opening M-F 4:30-7:30pm for a psychiatric intake worker.  I have had a little experience with this and I have worked on 2 geriatric psych units.  I have also make multiple referrals to psych units so I have an idea of the process.  These are perfect hours.  The job only requires a bachelors degree and I have a masters.  It should be interesting since I haven't worked for over a year and haven't had to interview for anything since 2006.  It's certainly going to be hard to leave the kids to go to work, but it may be nice to get back to working a little.  We'll see how it goes.

  1. I've considered going back to classroom teaching, but with what it would cost for childcare, I'm better off staying home and tutoring part time. I'll have to make my final decision very soon though. I think I know the answer, but am still taking a bit more time to decide if that's truly what's best.

Good luck with the job search! I hope you find something that is a great fit for you!

  2. I'm not sure that there is something that will fit the schedule that I need, but I need to try. I have an application for a psychiatric intake worker out there. I hope that something works out.

  3. We have a lot in common! I used to be a psych tech working in an Alzheimer's Disease program. Lately I've been working part-time as a substitute teacher. It works well with my schedule.

Your children are beautiful. It gets easier. I promise.

  4. I found you over at the threeundertwo (Lit and Laundry) blog. I wanted to second her comment above that it gets easier ... I also had 3 under 2 for a long while. Mine are now 4, 3, & 3.

Have you ever thought to try to make extra money with your blog?

I wish you luck in your job decision ... and I'll be following along :)

    Have a great weekend.

  6. Good luck with the job search! I found it much easier to raise my twins when I was working full time and someone else took care of them during the day. I was a much saner person! (I'm currently home with my 7 month old and my twins are in kindergarten.) Ironically, my house was much cleaner back then!
