Big Boy Bed

So Michael made the big transition from a crib to a toddler bed Saturday.  He loved it!  We had a couple of really good nights.  That is until tonight!  As I type he is banging his crib, which we still have up (probably a big mistake).  After I put him in bed, I heard his toy vacuum going.  I had to go in and take it out.  I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing.  Too cute!  Then I had to go in because I heard a bang and he was pulling all the books off his bookshelf.  I really need to go in and check on him, but it is quiet now and I am hoping that he is settling down.  Last night he went to bed later than usual so tonight I made sure he was in early.  didn't work out like I planned.  I'm hoping that he settles and things continue to go as well as they were going.

I so can not wait for spring.  When will the nice weather be here?  We have gone for walks the last couple of days and played on the swings, but it really is still too cold and I'd rather not have the kids out for too long in the raw damp weather.  Please come soon Spring!!!!!

Having a blast on the swings.  Can't wait for the better weather!

  1. I should be taking my kids out too, but haven't. It is cold and nasty here and feels so damp, like you said.

We just changed our youngest child's crib into a toddler bed a few weeks ago and she is not digging it! She didn't sleep in the crib either! She is pretty stubborn and loves to sleep right between us! Oh well...

  2. One thing that we found helped with Sarah's bed transition was to make sure that we don't talk to him when we would go in to put her back to bed. We would tell her how important it was to stay in her bed (repeat mantra over and over and over and over and ... you get the idea!). We also let her have a book or two in bed so that she didn't have to get out of bed to get it. Made a big deal of picking her "in bed" books. Just an idea. He'll get it but it might be slippery for a few weeks. Good luck!

  3. Thanks for the book idea. He would sometimes do that while he was in his crib (want to take books to bed). Not that I was great sleep training, but I did read weissbluth and not talking when you put them back to bed is exactly what he said. Since last night was the first, I tried really hard to not talk. I did better the second time I put him to bed. I have to admit even though it's not perfect it is so much better than I thought it would go.

  4. I can't wait to hear more updates on the toddler bed transition. I'm just so nervous to do it with mine. Good luck!
