Newest craft creations!

With the warm weather coming, I decided that I want to try fleece covers for the cloth diapers for the kids.  I found a simple pattern on line for free (always a good thing) and made one last night.  It worked up really easy and I have a bunch of fleece here at the house.  I don't know if the fleece is going to hold up to being a cover, but it's at least good practice.  Thomas has it on for his nap.  We'll see how it holds up when he wakes up!

Actual diaper cover

Not sure why this is turned wrong, but this is Thomas right before his nap
attempting the new fleece cover.

Hopefully it will work, but I am willing to splurge on some Malden Mills fleece since the pattern is so easy!  Plus even if it holds up for 1 diaper change it's worth it since I have the fleece here to use up!

  3. Chantal-I got the pattern at http://katrinassqs.blogspot.com/2007/10/free-soaker-pattern.html

It's really easy! I have a couple more pattern pieces cut out but i want to get a different needle for my sewing machine. I'll probably attempt to make more tonight. I liked how it worked for nap time.

I can't say if I miss malden mills since I never went there or bought any of their stuff, but now that I want to, I miss it!

  5. How did the fleece work? I know when I made my own sanitary napkins (which were so much better than regular ones) fleece worked well...

  8. I forgot to ask you... Do you cloth diaper?? I'm thinking about doing it with my next child (which won't be for awhile, lol) but I figure I can't be too prepared. Any recommendations? Websites?

  9. Heather-I do cloth diaper. There are a ton of websites but I don't really have a favorite. I have heard a lot of good thing about green mountain diapers. I am lucky and have a cloth diaper store not too far away from me just outside of Boston MA. I am using prefolds with Thirsties covers. It's been just under a year and so far I'm happy with them. There are so many ways to cloth diaper now. YOu no longer have to use pins and you can find all in ones that are as easy to put on as disposables. Check it out. I love not having to buy disposables.

I also blog at thehandmadeandnaturallife.blogspot.com and probably write a little more there on the cloth diapers.
